Hyperactivity/impulsiveness The second characteristic behavior is the way ADHD children are moving and behaving. Hyperactivity links to a high degree of motorial disorder, like wobbling, turning, fiddling, tapping with their pencil, stand up, pick on other children. Sitting still and be quiet costs a lot of energy. The disorder and impaitentness flow into motorial disorders, talking a lot, making various noises. Especially young children with ADHD are constantly moving around and can not hardly sit still. When they grow older, the constantly moving around will be subsituted by fiddling, wobbling and twisting the chair. Impulsiveness links to to direct responseveness of input from the surroundings. The child 'does something without thinking'. The child can not postpone his/her reaction. Impulsive children answer the questions before it is actually asked. They often have problems waiting on their turn when playing, dorce themselves into a situation, disrupt the play of others or interrupt a conversation. Often this irritates others. Their impulsiveness is the reason why they often comment on things, have great difficulty following instructions and often make a fool of themselves. Also they make use other properties without asking first and use these stuff without knowing they have to ask for it. They act before they think about the consequences. They like to be involved in dangerous activities, like skateboarding on sidewalks. The people around them experiences ADHD children as annoying. This is not the case with ADD children. |
